About Conversations in Community

We are excited to invite you to Conversations in Community, a new series dedicated to growing our community's understanding of the latest neuroscience research on addressing childhood trauma. This series is specifically designed to explore how we can bring resilience and healing into our classrooms, schools and community. Conversations in Community is designed for all public education staff and community partners. If you are a paraeducator, teacher, counselor, site administrator, district administrator, or community partner, you will gain powerful new insights into how to provide healing and resiliency for the students and adults you work with every day.

Conversations in Community is an opportunity for our community to explore the collective healing of ourselves and our students. Over the past five years, Sonoma County has suffered multiple and intersecting traumas of fires, floods, a global pandemic, and nationwide racial injustice. Together, let’s learn how to integrate individual and collective healing processes into the education spaces that serve our children and our community’s future.

Join us for the keynote launch event with Dr. Nadine Burke Harris and Dr. Bruce Perry on June 8th, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. During this dynamic and informative session, you'll learn the latest neuroscience research on trauma-informed practices and how healing and resiliency can help us address the needs of Sonoma County students. Lunch and childcare will be provided and live Spanish language and American Sign Language (ASL) translation will be available.

As an attendee, you'll also receive a book of your choice from our keynote speakers. Please plan to join us on Wednesday, August 2nd, for a book discussion and listening session at the Sonoma County Office of Education. This workshop will explore how to center and integrate processes for ongoing individual, interpersonal, and collective healing in our schools. Together, we can provide our students with the joyful and relevant educational spaces they need to realize their full potential.

Register today and take the first step toward creating a more supportive and inclusive learning environment for all Sonoma County students! Event costs have been underwritten by SCOE and our generous community sponsors. There is no cost to attend.
